TRUEscience wins the 2017 S-Lab Innovation Award for Best New Product

At the S-Lab Exhibition and Awards in York this May 2017, the TRUEscience smart pH meter won the award for Best New Product.

Over the two day exhibition lab managers and technicians came to see the smart pH meter working on stand, and the team were proud to receive the award at the evening awards ceremony.

About S-Lab

S-Lab is a non profit organisation funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) – a government agency providing funding for public universities in the UK.

Originally their focus was on energy efficiency in laboratories, but now they broadly cover lab design, management and operation with a view to improving both the efficiency and the effectiveness of labs.

Their regular conferences and exhibitions around the UK allow lab professionals from academic and industrial worlds to come together and discuss new technologies and practices which can improve the efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of their labs.

The two day York conference included excellent presentations on how real working laboratories have made good practice principals a reality, and reduced the carbon footprint of their labs by small improvements which allow researchers to continue their work as normal. These range from replacing water cooling with recirculating chillers, to installing auto-close systems on fume hood sashes.

It also allowed lab personnel to see some of the latest technology in action on the exhibition stands – allowing them to plan what will be next to make their labs more efficient in work rate and environmental impact.

The S-Lab Awards

The S-Lab Awards are recognised worldwide as setting the bar for good lab design, operation and management. They aim to showcase examples of good practice and innovation throughout all laboratory buildings and equipment.

The Best New or Improved Product category specifically recognises a new product which offers substantial benefits to laboratory owners and users – this could be by improved functionality, performance, quality or reduced costs, energy or water use.

Rowan Maulder from the TRUEscience team was delighted to accept the award at the evening gala dinner and awards ceremony.
